The Laundry Nest – (029)

The Laundry Nest (Building Comfort Forts Out of Tall One’s Clothes)

Dogs know something Tall Ones don’t: freshly washed laundry is the peak of domestic luxury. Warm, soft, scented with strange floral chemicals, and piled conveniently at ground level. It is the perfect site for a Comfort Fort.

Phase 1 — Pile Identification
Locate laundry pile. There are two categories:
Warm Clean Pile (fresh from dryer, smells like fake ocean)
Dirty Essence Pile (smells like Tall One, rich with emotional data)
Both have value. Clean pile = comfort. Dirty pile = research.

Phase 2 — Nest Construction
Begin burrowing to create optimal butt crater. Use paws to fluff shirts, hoodies, pajamas, and underwear. Underwear provides superior contour support but is considered a war crime by Tall Ones.

Phase 3 — Occupancy & Scent Claiming
Lie down directly in pile. Look extremely innocent. Pretend you were “just here” and pile “appeared around you.” Tall Ones know this is false but cannot resist taking pictures for social media.

Phase 4 — Eviction Attempt & Resistance
Tall One will eventually yell:
“HEY!! That’s CLEAN!!!”
Ignore. If dragged from pile, go limp like a fainting goat. If pile removed, immediately relocate to matching clean basket or hamper for secondary occupation mission.

 Breeds Who Excel at This

  • Goldens:Believe all laundry belongs to them
    • Corgis: Fit perfectly into hoodie folds
    • Hounds: Follow laundry scent trail like detectives
    • Frenchies: LOVE the warm dryer drop zone

 Science Says:

Dogs love laundry because it retains human scent signatures, which trigger bonding and emotional security. Also: it’s comfy as hell.
